DRC EARTHQUAKE, THE NEW EARTHQUAKE-PROOFING SYSTEM DESIGNED TO OFFER RESISTANCE IN AREAS WITH A HIGH PROBABILITY OF EARTHQUAKES
We have obtained SEISMIC QUALIFICATION TEST certification, IEEE std 693 “High Performance level”, through the CESI – LPS Laboratory
The tests that we passed with our three different kits are:
- Light (0 – 100 kg)
- Intermediate (100 – 200 kg)
- Heavy (200 – 500 kg)
They cover Zone 1 seismic areas to the maximum Zone 4 areas.
The tests were carried out with different weight loads on the internal panelling, from a minimum weight of 100 kg up to a maximum weight of 500 kg. Depending on the geographical area in which they take place, earthquakes are a serious threat to the population and to property.
Fuse boxes and data centres are important not only for their high financial value but even more so for the key role they play in infrastructure systems. Hence the requirement to ensure they are protected from earthquakes in regions at risk of seismic activity.
Enclosures and cabinets, generally those that incorporate control panels and servers, play a central role in ensuring the full operation of infrastructure systems: if these suffer serious structural damage, the operation of the whole system is put at risk.
The seismic safety of enclosures and cabinets is therefore of vital importance. Different standards define the conditions which must be satisfied by such enclosures and cabinets for them to be considered earthquake-proof. Therefore, depending on the geographical area and the application, different standards must be complied with.
Although these may adopt different approaches, they all have one central point in common: the test on the shake table, which simulates the accelerations experienced by an object during an earthquake.
However, the exact spectrum of frequencies and accelerations considered for the test on the shake table vary in part from one standard to another.
In addition, we have also tested the wall-mounted cases in our D93 range, reinforcing them still further to make them even safer and stronger.
