Designing the architecture of an electrical cabinet or automation system requires informed choices regarding safety and protection. When sheet metal enclosures are destined for complex environments, the reliability of the entire system depends on its ability to withstand mechanical, environmental, and chemical stress.
Ensuring the integrity of internal components means isolating them from external agents and accidental impacts, a level of protection that is measured through two fundamental parameters: the IP66 protection rating, which guarantees complete sealing against fine dust and multidirectional water jets, and IK10 impact resistance, which defines the highest level of mechanical protection according to the IEC EN 62208 standard.
However, in outdoor installations, an IP rating alone is not enough: solar exposure and temperature fluctuations generate internal condensation and cause seal failure. These challenges require dedicated solutions such as anti-condensation heaters and rain canopies.
Which certifications are required for industrial electrical enclosures?
Our processes and products are certified by leading independent bodies (TÜV SÜD, RINA, CESI, EAC) to ensure maximum structural, electrical, and operational performance even under the most extreme operating conditions.

Electrical Enclosures: 3 Types of extreme environmental conditions
Beyond standard catalog certifications, we develop specific configurations to meet complex technical specifications and severe stress requirements:
- Seismic risk and electrical withstand
Our enclosures guarantee a CESI-certified structural short-circuit withstand of up to 90 kA. Furthermore, for critical infrastructure located in earthquake-prone areas, we have engineered a reinforcement kit with IEEE Std 693 "High Performance" certification. Designed specifically for the DRC modular enclosure series, this kit was shake-table tested at the CESI - LPS laboratories.
- Saline and chemical environments
With RINA ELE118311CS certification, our structures are type-approved for marine and offshore applications. For these environments and high-pressure chemical washdowns, the use of AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel creates an unbeatable chemical shield against pitting corrosion triggered by chlorides and airborne salinity.
- Mining environments with heavy dust
IP66 certification is essential in mining applications, and preserves the integrity of the sealing gaskets. Engineered exclusively in AISI 316L stainless steel, the D93/GN-A enclosure features an integrated sloped roof that allows rock debris, sand, and quarry dust to slide off naturally due to gravity, preventing accumulation on top and protecting the gaskets over time.
The value of certified protection
Ensuring the longevity of an installation means choosing a sheet metal enclosure engineered to last. With our certified solutions, we deliver maximum protection against mechanical, seismic, and environmental stress.
